Gooseberry Jam / Nellikayi Jam / Amla Jam

Indian Gooseberries / nellikayi / amla is rich in vitamin C and other nutrients. It helps boost immunity. Good for hair as it slows down greying (you would have already seen how to prepare Mehandi and Amla hair dye and also gooseberry tambuli). 

Now let's make it sweet. Here is the very easy to prepare amla jam recipe. You can store this jam for over a month without refrigerating. 



Ingredients

Grated gooseberry - 2 cups
Sugar - 1.5 cups
Cardamom powder - 1/8 spoon

Method

Wash the gooseberries and wipe out the water using a dry cotton cloth. Grate the gooseberries. 

Heat a thick Bottomed kadai. Add sugar and half cup of water. Bring to boil. Let sugar get dissolved completely. 

Now add grated gooseberries. Cook this for about 8 to 10 minutes. Add cardamom powder, mix well and switch off the stove. 

You can serve this with dosa, chapti, roti etc.
