Niger seeds (we call it as Hucchellu in Malenadu and Gurellu in North Karnataka) are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, antioxidants and several B-complex groups of vitamins. My Amma used to cook Chutney along with raw mango during our childhood.
It's the mango season..I have prepared chutney and sharing the recipe for you all.
Ingredients
Gurellu - 3 spoons
Red chillies - 3
Tothapuri mango - 1/2
Grated coconut - 3 spoons
Jaggery powder - 1 spoon (optional)
Salt to taste
Salt to taste
Method
Roast gurelli and red chilies together for about 5 minutes in low flame. Switch off the stove and allow it to cool down.
Remove the skin 9f mango and chop into pieces.
Grind roasted gurellu, chilies along with mango, grated coconut and salt in a mixer grinder. Can add jaggery powder if like sweetish taste.
Transfer the contents on to a vessel. Yummy chutney is ready to serve.
