
Ingredients
Urad dal - 1/2 cup
Fried gram - 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Ajwain - 1 spoon
Oil - 1/2 litre
Butter - 100 grams (optional)
Method
Roast urad dal in low flame until you get nice aroma. Add fried gram to the same and roast it for 15 seconds more. Allow it cool down.
Grind the same into fine powder.
Hear a thick bottomed Kadai. Add rice flour and roast it for about a minute. Transfer this into a wide vessel. Add Urad and fried gram powder, salt, ajwain. Heat 100 grams of butter or 6 spoons of oil and add to the vessel having all other ingredients. Mix and knead well for about 10 minutes. Now add water and mix well. Dough should not be too thick and too thin too. Adjust the water quality accordingly.
Heat a thick bottomed kadai and add oil for roasting.
Transfer the required quantity into chakli maker and make chakli. Once the oil gets heated, add check chakli one by one and cook on both sides.
You can use a small iron stick / rod to transfer the cooked chakli so that all extra oil gets removed.
Yummy chakli is ready to serve.
