Bengal gram raita / Kadale bele sasme / Kadale bele sasive


Kadale bele (Bengal gram) sasive is a healthy dish which my mother has been cooking since my childhood. Its very easy to cook as well and I love the unique taste of this sasive. 

Ingredients

Bengal gram dal - 4 spoons
Coconut - 1/2 medium sized
Green chillies - 3 to 5 (tastes better if it is bit more spicy)
Mustard seeds - 1/4 spoon
Curd / Buttermilk - 1 cup
Salt to taste

For tempering

Oil - 1 spoon
Mustard seeds - 1/4 spoon
Cumin seeds - 1/4 spoon
Red chilly - 1

Method 

Wash and soak the bengal gram dal for about 2 hours.

Grate the coconut and grind the same along with green chillies, soaked bengal gram dal, mustard seeds by adding curd / buttermilk, salt. 

Heat the oil in small thick bottomed vessel. Add oil. When it gets heated, add urad dal, mustard seeds and red chillies. When mustard seeds starts spattering, switch off the flame and add to the Sasive.

We can serve this with rice.
