Brahmi tambuli / Ondelaga tambuli / brahmi shot / Timare shot / Timare tambuli / Brahmi Lassi



Brahmi (also known as ondelaga, gotu kola, timare) is known as brain tonic (helps in boosting memory). We prepare Tambuli and chutney using these leaves. There are two ways we can prepare tambuli. My mom fries the brahmi leaves and prepares tambuli, whereas my father in law used to prepare using raw leaves. This version can be served as a energizing drink. Sharing the recipe I learnt from my father in law.

Ingredients

Brahmi leaves - 1 medium sized bunch
Grated coconut - 6 to 8 spoons
Jaggery - 5 to 6 small lemon sized pieces
Butter milk - 1 cup
Pepper corns - 10 to 12
Salt to taste

Method

Finely wash and chop the brahmi leaves. Grind it along with grated coconut, pepper corn, buttermilk, jaggery and salt in a mixer grinder into fine liquid. Transfer the contents onto a vessel and add water / additional butter milk as per how much thick you want the tambuli to be.

We can either serve this with rice or serve this as a Brahmi lassi.
