Sutta badane kayi mosaru bajji - One more recipe which takes back the memory lane to childhood days. Lets preserve these recipes and add variety into our daily cooking.
Ingredients
Brinjal - 2 large
Onions - 3 medium
Green chillies - 3 to 4 depending on spice level
Asafetida - 1 pinch
Oil - 2 spoons
Urad dal - 1 spoon
Mustard seeds - 1/2 spoon
Curry leaves - 5 to 6
Curd - 2 cups
Salt to taste
Salt to taste
Method
Wash and wipe the brinjal to remove water. Directly roast this on a stove / on a papad roaster (or ideally on charcoal grill if available) for about 4 to 7 minutes depending on the size of brinjal. Let it get cooked completely. Switch of the stove and allow the brinjal to cool down.
Chop onions and green chillies, curry leaves.
Remove the skin of the brinjal and mash it. Add chopped onions, curd, salt.
Heat a tempering spatula. Add oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, asafetida. When mustard seeds starts spattering, add green chillies and curry leaves. Roast for another 15 seconds and then add this to the above brinjal raita and mix well.
Can serve this with rice, chapati, pulka etc.
