Doddapatre Tambuli / Indian borage tambuli



ದೊಡ್ಡಪತ್ರೆ / ಸಾಂಬಾರ್ ಬಳ್ಳಿ / Indian Borage is a green leafy vegetable / herb which can be used for cooking as well as medicine for cold and cough. It can be easily grown in kitchen garden. Here is the recipe of Tambuli (also called as Raita).

Ingredients
Indian Borage leaves - 10 to 12
Cumin Seeds - 1 spoon
Red Chillies - 2
Grated Coconut -  1/4th  Cup
Curd - 1/4th cup OR Butter milk - 3 cups

Salt to taste
Oil - 1 spoon


Method
Wash and chop the Indian borage leaves into small pieces. 

Heat a thick bottomed kadai and pour the oil. When oil is heated up, add cumin seeds and break the red chillies into small pieces and add. Roast it for 15 seconds and add chopped leaves. Roast it in very low flame for about 2 minutes and allow it to cool down.

In a mixer grinder add all the ingredients and finely grind the contents along with curd / butter milk. Transfer contents to a vessel. If you would like extra flavor, you can add tempering too.

This can be eaten with rice. Can be consumed as a drink as well.
