Banana Rasayana with Sesame seeds / Bale hannina rasayana

The word Rasayana takes me back to my childhood memories. This is one of the special dishes which my mother makes for Naivedya (offering to god) during festivals. All of us at home loved the recipe for its special taste of banana blended with coconut, sesame seeds & jaggery. Sharing the same here with for you to try.

Ingredients
Bananas - 6
Powdered Jaggery - 5 to 6 spoons
Sesame seeds - 3 spoons
Grated Coconut -
5 to 6 spoons
Salt - 1/6 spoon

Method

Chop the banana into small pieces.

Roast the sesame seeds in low flame till it turns golden brown. Allow it to cool. Grind the same into fine powder. Do not use Nylon sesame seeds; use brown seeds. Sesame seeds are rich in calcium which is good for our bones.

Add jaggery powder, 50 ml water into a vessel and prepare thin jaggery syrup by boiling. It takes about 5 minutes to prepare. Allow it to cool down.

Mix chopped bananas, jaggery syrup, grated coconut, sesame seeds powder and salt. Mix well. Tasty rasayana is ready to serve.

This can be consumed as desert or as a side dish for Dosa, Chapati etc. too.
