Poppy seeds (also called as Khas Khas in Hindi and ಗಸಗಸೆ in Kannda provide cooling effect to the body. Its ideal ingredient to use in summer diet.
Poppy seeds also help to enhance the sleep and brain health. Hence it is being used while preparing baby food.
Here is the recipe of Poppy seeds juice.
Ingredients
Poppy seeds – 50 Grams
Grated coconut - 1/2 (medium sized)
Powdered Jaggery – Around 1/4 kg
Cardamom - 3
Grated coconut - 1/2 (medium sized)
Powdered Jaggery – Around 1/4 kg
Cardamom - 3
Water – 1 Litre
Ice cubes (optional)
Method
Soak the poppy seeds in water for 15-20 minutes. Blend the soaked poppy seeds, grated coconut, cardamom and Jaggery in a blender by gradually adding water until it becomes a smooth liquid. Then, filter the juice through a strainer. Can add ice cubes as well. You can add more water based on how much sweet you would like to drink. Ideally we can prepare around 1 liter of juice from the mentioned quantity of ingredients. Can add ice cubes to make it more cooler.
The left out strained ingredient may be mixed with things such as Dosa batter.
