When we feel like cooking a different variety of side dish for Chapati, Idli, Dosa or even rice, here is a recipe.
Ingredients
Beans - 1/2 kg
Coconut - 1/2 (medium sized)
Fried gram / ಹುರಿಗಡಲೆ - 4 Spoon
Green Chillies - 5 to 6
Lemon - 1/2
Salt to taste
For Tempering
Oil - 3 spoons
Bengal gram dal - 1 spoon
Turmeric powder - very little
Mustard seeds - 1 spoon
Method
Wash and remove both the edges of the beans. Cut into small pieces.
Cook the chopped beans in a pressure cooker along with water and salt for 2 whistles.
Mean while, grind coconut, friend gram (no need to roast it) and green chillies into paste. Please note it need not be fine paste.
Heat a thick bottomed Kadai and pour the oil. As oil gets heated add Bengal gram dal, mustard seeds and turmeric powder. When mustard starts spattering, add cooked beans and ground masala. Cook for about 5 minutes.
Add the lemon juice and mix well. You can serve this with Chapati, Idli, Dosa or even rice.
