Peanut Butter

Peanuts / Ground Nuts are also called Poor Man's Almond. They are rich in protein.

In Bangalore every year during November "Kadalekayi Parishe" - "Ground nut fair" is being held. Its a two-day fair being held in Bull Temple road in Basavanagudi. Villagers & merchants come and sell the freshly grown Peanuts during the fair after offering to the Bull/Nandi, the God. If you are in Bangalore and get a chance, visit this fair.

We used to buy Peanut Butter for couple of years until we explored how to prepare ourselves. We realized that its pretty easy to prepare and then onwards we have been having home made, preservative free peanut butter. Its easy on our wallet too :). Its being liked by all ages.

Ingredients - Peanut & only peanut :) - How much ever you want. If you are trying for first time use a 1/2 cup of peanuts.

Method

In a thick bottomed wide Kadai, roast the Peanuts using very low flame. Roast it for about 15 to 20 minutes (timing depends on how big Kadai you are using and how much quantity is being roasted). Keep stirring so that all sides of the peanut is being roasted evenly and inside part too.

Switch of the flame and keep it aside to cool down.

Now transfer the roasted Peanuts on to a plate. Using palms, rub the Peanuts so that skin goes off. Now separate the skin by blowing it off from the plate. Ensure that skin has been separated from all the peanuts.

Transfer the content to the Blender and grind slowly. Gradually oil from Peanut starts leaving and it turns into butter.

You can add salt / coca powder / honey as different variants.
