Ingredients

Elakki banana - 10
Urad dal - 1 cup
Sugar - 2 cups
Cardamom powder - 1/4 spoon
Salt to taste
Oil - 2 cups

Method

Wash and soak urad dal in water for about 4 hours.

Meantime add 2 cups of water to 2 cups of sugar and boil it for about 10 minutes. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Sugar syrup is ready now. Allow it to cool down.

Grind urad dal along with soaked water (add little extra water if needed)  into thick dosa batter consistency using a mixer grinder. Add 1/2 spoon of salt, grind for 10 seconds. Transfer the content on to a vessel.

Remove the skin of banana. Chop into small pieces as shown in the photo.

Heat a thick Bottomed kadai. Add oil and heat further. Now add chopped banana onto urad dal batter and mix well. Take big spoon of it and drop into oil. After a minute turn upside down and cook both the sides. Now remove from oil and put it into sugar syrup. Soak them properly for 2 minutes and take it out. Add next batch of fried fritters onto sugar syrup and continue the same.

Juicy, fruity Jenari is ready to serve.
