Sweet Corn Pitla / Sweet Corn Kadi

Sweet corn pitla is one of my new experiments. It is very simple to prepare and tasty too.

Ingredients

Sweet corn - 1 big
Onions - 2 medium sized
Green chilies - 3
Curry leaves - 8 to 10
Ginger - 1 small piece
Oil - 2 spoons
Urad dal - 1 spoon
Mustard seeds - 1/2 spoon
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Turmeric powder - 1 pinch
Lemon - 1/2 medium sized
Salt to taste

Method

Separate out the sweet corn kernels from the cob. I do this using an elige mane / metakatti as this helps separate out quickly. Grind the sweet corns using one cup of water into liquid consistency.

Chop green chilies, onions, ginger and curry leaves into fine pieces.

Heat a thick bottomed kadai. Add oil. When oil gets heated add urad dal, mustard seeds, turmeric powder and asafoetida. When mustard seeds start spattering, add chopped green chilies, ginger and curry leaves. After 30 seconds, add chopped onions and keep on stirring. After 2 mins, add ground corn, salt and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes. Switch off the stove and add lemon juice and mix well.

We can serve this with rice or chapati.
