Banana Pulka / Banana Ubbu Rotti / Balehannu ubbu rotti

When you want to minimize the use of oil but want to cook tasty food, we definitely have choices. One such choice is banana pulka / Banana ubbu rotti. If you don't want to use banana, you can prepare plain pulka by preparing the dough with water. I find it very easy and fast to cook Pulka.

Recipe courtesy : Lalitha Balachandra - my chikkamma.

Ingredients

Wheat flour - 3 cups
Banana - 3 if you are using pacha banana, 7 to 8 if Elakki banana
Salt to taste

Method
Wash and remove the skin of the banana. Grind into fine paste without adding water using a mixer grinder. Mix this and salt with wheat flour and knead into chapati batter consistency without adding water.

Prepare small chapati / Pulka using chapati maker.

Heat a thick bottomed iron tawa. Cook both the sides mildly. Transfer the pulka on to the next stove and cook directly on the flame. Pulka will expand like puri. Cook on both sides and serve hot with ghee or other side dishes.

If tawa is big, you can cook 3 pulkas at a time and transfer on to the next stove one by one to cook directly on the flame. This way it becomes very fast.
