Drumstick leaves chutney powder / Moringa chutney powder / Nugge suppina chutney pudi


Drumstick leaves (called as nugge soppu / ನುಗ್ಗೆ ಸೊಪ್ಪು in Kannada) are rich in iron content and suggested to consume for people suffering from iron deficiency. Its popularly known as Moringa these days and being sold in the dried powder form.


Here are different types of chutney powder recipes using drumstick leaves.


Ingredients

 

Dried drumstick leaves - 2 cups

Dried coconut - 1/2 cup

Garlic - 8 to 10 cloves

Sesame seeds - 2 spoons

Red chillies - 8 to 10 (I used 5 Byadagi and another 5 Guntur vareity)

Salt to taste

Sugar - 1 or 2 spoons


Method 


Wash and separate out the drumstick leaves from stems. Sun dry the leaves for 2 to 3 days. 

Grate the dry coconut. 

Remove the skin of garlic cloves. 

Dry roast drumstick leaves, sesame seeds, red chillies, garlic cloves, grated dried coconut separately. 

Grind roasted ingredients together along with salt and sugar. Mix well and serve with Chapati / Dosa etc. Its healthy and yummy. 










Alternatively we can also prepare chutney powder with drumstick leaves, peanuts, red chillies, salt and sugar as shown below (Dry roast all three separately and grind in a mixer grinder).
