I am happy to introduce a new section "Beauty" to share home made cosmetics / beauty related products. First one is Kajal (called as Kadige / ಕಾಡಿಗೆ in Kannada) which is used as eye makeup product. My mother made this at home when my daughter was born. I happily and safely used to apply on her eye brows and eyes. Sharing here with you all to try it out and stay away from chemicals.
Ingredients
Organic castor oil - 100 ml
Home made butter - very little
Diya
Cotton threads
Method
Wash and dry a clean Diya. Fill with organic castror oil and add two cotton threads. Light the lamp. Now place a steel cup upside down above the light as shown in the picture along with the help of 2 cups to support so as to collect the ashes (kajal).
Light should be lit for about 5 to 6 hours to collect the ashes. You may have to refill the oil. Ashes are collect as shown in the below picture.
Using the fingers mix the ashes to mix it together. Add freshly made butter and mix well.
Store it in a small steel box. I am sure this will sooth the eyes.
